Digital fabrics made in South Africa

Midcomp Consumables have partnered with a South African textile manufacturer to bring to market a range of locally manufactured, high-quality digital fabrics for the large format sign and display market.

The product list includes a 205gsm 1.8m wide textile for gazebos and umbrellas. It is certified for 2-year outdoor durability with Latex ink and is water-repellent. You can expect high quality colour without having to worry about fading and discolouration.

There is also a 240gsm 1.5m wide textile for gazebos and umbrellas that has an optical whitener built-in, offers a double-sided coating and is also water-repellent. Both products are compatible with Solvent, UV and Latex ink.

When considering digital fabrics for printing gazebos and umbrellas, you need products that are durable: textiles that can withstand different weather conditions such as high winds and heavy rains as well as high temperatures and UV exposure. The water-repellency and UV protection offered on the gazebo and umbrella fabric is extremely important for the user experience and it adds to the longevity of the product.

The Silver Block-out textile is 80gsm 1.5m wide and used for double sided printing where its block-out properties ensure no light shines through the print from behind causing a faded and mismatched final product. It is ideal for sharkfin and teardrop banners, pop-up frames, sun visors, TD and bunting.

For roll-up banners, X-banners and hanging banners, there is a 260gsm Grey Block-out textile of 1.8m wide which is compatible with Solvent, UV and Latex ink technologies.

The grey block-out properties provide a light barrier from behind which means your print does not appear faded, and it also creates a denser print. Textile banners are an alternative to PVC when you are looking for a more high-end, high-definition look and feel compared to classic PVC.

For those looking for a premium Canvas product there is a 380gsm High Resolution Artist Canvas made from 100% cotton. Available sizes range from 610mm and 914mm to 1.3m and 1.5m.  As a 100% cotton Canvas it is supple and therefore more pliable. It is also a particularly resistant material that will not easily get damaged when it is being handled or mounted.

Canvas is known for its excellent quality. Add to that the high-resolution coating and you can expect exceptional renderings and intensity of rich colours and depth of black. The coating ensures that the image displays the full spectrum of colours and sub-tones without bleeding or smearing and that the ink adheres well to the surface of the textile.
