7. Quotations and Orders

Submitting an enquiry, using a contact form or adding products to a shopping trolley does not automatically confirm an order. An order is only confirmed once:

  • A formal quotation has been issued by UWE Scales & Calibration.
  • The customer has accepted the quotation in writing.
  • Any required deposit or payment has been received.
  • UWE Scales & Calibration has confirmed the order.

Quotations are valid for the period stated on the quotation. If no validity period is stated, the quotation will be valid for 7 calendar days from the date of issue.

Prices may change due to supplier pricing, exchange rates, stock availability, transport costs or other factors outside our control.

8. Pricing

All prices listed on the website or provided in quotations are subject to change without notice unless confirmed in writing.

Prices may be shown excluding or including VAT, depending on the page, product or quotation format. The final quotation will confirm the applicable pricing.

Additional costs may apply for:

9. Payment Terms

UWE Scales reserves the right to withhold delivery, installation, calibration, repair work, certificates or support until payment has been received.

Late payments may result in delays, additional charges or suspension of services.

10. Delivery and Shipping

Delivery times are estimates only and may depend on stock availability, supplier lead times, courier schedules and the customer’s location.

UWE Scales will make every reasonable effort to deliver within the expected timeframe. However, we are not responsible for delays caused by couriers, suppliers, customs, weather, public holidays, incorrect delivery details or other factors outside our control.

Customers must ensure that delivery details are correct before confirming an order.

Risk in the goods may pass to the customer once the goods are delivered, collected or handed over to the courier, depending on the agreed delivery terms.

11. Installation and Site Requirements

Where installation is required, the customer must ensure that the site is ready, safe, accessible and suitable for the installation.

This may include:

  • Clear access to the installation area.
  • Suitable power supply.
  • Safe working conditions.
  • Level and stable surfaces.
  • Required permissions or permits.
  • Availability of responsible staff on site.

Delays caused by incomplete site preparation may result in additional costs.

12. Calibration Services

UWE Scales provides calibration services for a wide range of weighing equipment and related instruments.

Calibration is the process of verifying and adjusting the performance of equipment to ensure accurate measurements and readings.

Calibration services may include:

  • On-site calibration.
  • In-house calibration.
  • Remote calibration, where suitable.
  • Calibration certificates.
  • Calibration weights and related support.

Calibration results apply to the instrument or equipment at the time of testing. The accuracy of equipment after calibration may be affected by use, handling, transport, environmental conditions, damage or tampering.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that equipment is maintained, used correctly and recalibrated at suitable intervals.

Calibration certificates will only be issued once the service has been completed and payment terms have been met, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

13. Repairs and Technical Services

Repair work and technical services are subject to inspection and assessment.

Where equipment requires parts, additional labour or further work, a quotation may be issued before repairs continue.

UWE Scales cannot guarantee that all equipment can be repaired. This may apply where equipment is damaged, obsolete, incomplete, unsupported by the manufacturer or beyond economical repair.

Repairs may be delayed by stock availability, supplier lead times or the condition of the equipment.

14. Appliance Department Services

UWE Scales may provide support, repairs and servicing for selected appliances and related equipment.

These services are subject to assessment, parts availability and quotation approval.

The customer is responsible for providing accurate information about the equipment fault, previous repairs, usage conditions and any relevant service history.

15. Consultation Services

Consultation services are provided to assist customers with weighing processes, equipment selection, technical requirements and operational challenges.

Consultation may include:

  • Product recommendations.
  • Site assessments.
  • Process reviews.
  • System planning.
  • Technical advice.
  • Weighing workflow guidance.

Consultation services may be charged separately and will be confirmed in the relevant quotation.

16. Custom Applications and Development

Custom systems, automation, packshed systems, scale integrations and specialised developments are quoted according to the agreed scope of work.

The customer is responsible for providing accurate requirements, operational details, access, approvals and feedback needed to complete the work.

Any changes to the approved scope may result in additional costs and adjusted timelines.

Custom work, special orders and made-to-specification systems may not be eligible for return unless required by law.

17. Returns and Refunds

Returns and refunds will be handled in line with applicable South African consumer protection laws.

Products may not be accepted for return where they have been used, damaged, installed, customised, altered, incorrectly handled or specially ordered, unless the return is allowed by law.

If a product is defective, unsafe or not as agreed, the customer must notify UWE Scales as soon as possible so that the matter can be assessed.

Where required by law, the customer may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund.

Proof of purchase may be required for any return, refund, repair or warranty claim.

18. Warranty

Products may carry manufacturer warranties, supplier warranties or service warranties, depending on the product or service supplied.

Warranty terms may vary by product type, manufacturer and application.

A warranty may not apply where damage or failure is caused by:

  • Improper installation by a third party.

  • Water damage, unless the product is rated for such use.

20. Limitation of Liability

UWE Scales will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss.

This includes loss of profit, loss of production, loss of data, business interruption, delays, operational losses or losses caused by equipment failure, incorrect use, supplier delays, courier issues or factors outside our reasonable control.

Our liability will be limited to the value of the product or service supplied, unless otherwise required by law.
