Entrust Foundation, in partnership with MiniChess, offers structured learning programmes designed to develop critical thinking, STEM foundations, problem-solving and future-ready skills in children and young people. These courses span early childhood development, curriculum-aligned in-school learning, after-school clubs, introductory coding and tablet-based strategic learning.

Course Options
Each course is designed for a different age group, learning stage or delivery model, making it easier for schools, families and communities to choose the option that best fits their needs.

In School Classes
The MiniChess In-School Programme is a curriculum-aligned learning option delivered within the school timetable, often alongside mathematics or entrepreneurship. StartSmart classes are also delivered inside the school timetable (not during pre-school hours). It runs across five structured developmental levels, from StartSmart through to Level 3, and is presented either by specialist MiniChess teachers or accredited in-school staff. With teaching materials, equipment and workbooks provided, the programme gives schools a practical way to introduce structured STEM development, critical thinking and collaborative learning into the school day.
StartSmart
StartSmart is designed for children aged 4 to 5, an important stage for early thinking, reasoning and sensory development. Delivered face-to-face during the school timetable (not during pre-school hours), the programme uses engaging, age-appropriate activities to help young learners strengthen attention, listening, observation and early cognitive skills. It is positioned as an early intervention programme that helps address developmental backlogs while laying a stronger foundation for future learning. Parents can also be included in the process, creating opportunities for reinforcement and bonding at home.

MiniChess
MiniChess Clubs offer weekly, face-to-face group coaching in an after-school setting. These classes are typically around 45 minutes long and are designed for children across five developmental levels, from StartSmart to Level 3. The club model provides a consistent space for learners to build critical thinking, problem-solving and core STEM skills while receiving guided support from trained facilitators. Learners also receive workbooks and accreditation certificates as they complete each level, helping track progress in a structured way. The MiniChess Club structure is suited to offer MC-Coding lessons as well.
MiniChess Coding
MiniChess Coding introduces older learners to coding through a structured, age-conscious approach designed for the South African context. The programme starts unplugged, using live body activities to build essential pre-coding skills such as sequencing, spatial awareness, reasoning, planning, creative problem-solving and perseverance. Learners then move into concrete technology-based activities with SmartBot before progressing to guided digital engagement using offline devices, helping protect young minds while still developing strong coding foundations. The programme follows the S.A.R.A. methodology, beginning with sequencing and progressing through alternatives, repetition and abstraction.

MiniChess by
Kasparov
MiniChess by Kasparov is a tablet-based programme that combines hands-on, three-dimensional learning with two-dimensional digital gameplay. Delivered through an offline, pre-loaded tablet, it offers 81 mini-games within a guided storyline and is designed for use in settings where internet access may be limited. The programme supports critical thinking, problem-solving and foundational STEM development through interactive play, and it is endorsed by Garry Kasparov. Its offline functionality also makes it practical for schools and communities with limited connectivity.
