It’s all about growing crops in stacked layers, usually in a controlled environment without soil and being able to grow crops without concern about weather conditions, pests, climate, soil erosion, and being able to grow all year around with an elevated level of certainty about the yield outcomes.
By growing vertically, the amount of footprint required is much smaller than traditional agriculture, so the crops produced per square foot is much higher. Vertical farms are most often operating on Hydroponic, Aeroponic or Aquaponic or Hybrid systems.
In summary, aeroponic systems offer advantages in terms of root positioning, maintaining a dry environment for seeds and growing media, and employing sterilisation and filtration techniques to prevent pests and diseases. These features contribute to a more controlled and hygienic growing environment, benefiting plant health and crop yield.
